DROID Incredible, DROID Original Getting AOSP Gingerbread

The DROID Incredible and DROID Original are both getting Gingerbread builds — not from Verizon, HTC, or Motorola, but from the open-source developer community. Who needs Verizon or device manufacturers anymore?

ROMs for both devices aren’t quite 100% functional yet (who needs GPS and camera functionality anyway?), but resolving the final few bugs is only a matter of time.

What do you think? Are you ready to take the plunge and replace your stock ROM with a custom ROM? Have you already done so?

Are you going to wait for Verizon to release an official Gingerbread ROM for your phone? How long do you suspect that will take, if ever?
