Microsoft To Launch Windows Phone 7 in China H2 2011
Looks like Microsoft is planning to launch its new mobile platform in China in the second half of 2011. The news comes right on spot with Jack Tong’s statement — from HTC Asia — regarding no Asian language support for Windows Phone 7 until second half of 2011.
Yang Tianyang — Microsoft’s Communications Sector Director for the Greater China Region — announced Monday that Windows Phone 7 will arrive to China in the second half of next year and that Redmond is in the talks with manufacturers like Lenovo, ZTE and Huawei with regards to Windows Phone 7 handset production. With China being the world’s largest cell phone market, Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 sales numbers could rocket sky high given that all the region specific features and support will be implemented. And, with budget devices produced by the aforementioned manufacturers, we could also witness a global increase in sales as cheaper devices could hit U.S. and European markets too.
