Microsoft, Paramount Trying “Movies-as-Apps” on WP7

Here’s something pretty cool. Paramount Digital Entertainment announced today that it will be releasing ten enhanced movie apps of Paramount Pictures’ films exclusively for Windows Phone 7. “School of Rock” will be available today, with other titles like “Zoolander”, “Waiting for Superman” and “GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra” being released later this year. Instead of just buying the movie as a video file, these movie apps include a lot of extra content similar to what you would find on an interactive DVD. You can even watch the movie with little “Scene It” pop-up trivia dialogs to give you some interesting notes throughout the film.

You can purchase “School of Rock” now in the Zune Marketplace for $9.99. Search for “School of Rock Enhanced Movie” to find it.
