Gingerbread Status Bar Icons Revealed

Remember all the “green and black” that were rumored to be coming to Android 2.3? It looks like the new color pallet has landed — in the status bar, at least.

Straight out of Google’s Android 2.3 User’s Guide we see the new status and notification bar icons, and their descriptions. I can’t help but notice how little color there is, and how “monochrome” the color pallet seems to be.

Color, it seems, will be reserved for notifications that should stand-out from the rest. Battery-low indicators, tethering, and call information are the primary places where you’ll see color in the notification bar. Ironically, battery-charged and the type of data connection (EDGE, 3G, etc.) seem also to be blessed with color.

What do you think of the new color scheme?
