Android 2.3 Gingerbread Emulator Walkthrough (Video)
While you can’t yet get Android 2.3 on your Android device, you can always load up the emulator and experience it on your desktop computer. In this video we take you on a tour of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which brings many small changes to the platform, many of which to improve gaming, communications, and the user interface. We talk about the improved icons, the new on screen keyboard, the better copy/paste interface, plus a few other minor things. Note: YouTube is having problems rendering today. If the video shows up as “unavailable,” just click the window and it will open up in YouTube, where it should play.
1. Download Android SDK.
2. On your computer, navigate to the installation directory and open SDK Manager.
3. The system should begin downloading packages, which will include Android 2.3.
4. Go into Virtual devices. Click New. Add a one-word title. For SD card, put 512, for Target, choose Android 2.3. Set the rest however you want (such as screen resolution).
5. Hit create AVD. Go back to Virtual Devices, highlight your emulator, and click Start.
