Motorola Defy Root Guide Published, Z4root Also Working?
A step-by-step guide for rooting Motorola’s Defy is now available thanks to the forum users at XDA Developers, along with z4root support for would-be rooters looking for a more streamlined solution.
The seven-step process will grant you superuser access to the ruggedized Android handset, and though it looks simple enough, you’ll have to be careful that all the necessary text is entered-in just as it should be.
Though rooting itself isn’t really for the faint-of-heart, opening up your phone to the risk of damage to important system files, you can save yourself a bit of stress by trying out the z4root app on the Defy. The program lets you permanently root several Android models, retaining the effects of the mod even after a power-down. Some of the XDA Developers users have reported problems getting z4root to work on the Defy, but most seem to be enjoying success. If you can’t get z4root to work, you can always fall back to rooting the phone manually.
As with all rooting procedures, proceed at your own risk. Full instructions on the manual Defy root are available via the XDA Developers link below.
