Samsung Indulge, Infuse, Verdict, and Others on the Way?
Samsung has applied for trademarks on a total of 22 smartphone names since early May, according to the US Patent and Trademark Office, including a trio of potential brandings just last week. Out of those 22 names, we’ve only seen six used for handsets currently on the market: the Windows Phone 7-powered Focus, Android-powered Transform, and Epic, Mesmerize, and Fascinate Galaxy S variants. The three latest applications, all submitted on the same day, are for the brands “Samsung Indulge,” “Samsung Verdict,” and “Samsung Infuse.” Prior to that we have the Spectacular, Simulate, Profile, Niche, Chrono, Index, Aviator, Appeal, Admire, Exhibit, Showcase, Spectacle, Transfix, and Gem; this last handset was spotted back in September posing in a Verizon ad but has not made a peep since.
It should be noted that Samsung seems to have trademarked numerous names in the past that apparently never made their way onto shipping products, so we may not see all of these words attached to actual models. Still, it’s likely that at least a few will end up being official brandings, making us wonder what compelling hardware Sammy’s got planned for the next few months.
