iPhone Owners Report FaceTime Bug Making Random Calls

Do you FaceTime? I’ll have to accept I rarely do, but it does make matters worse if your phone decides to do FaceTime without you! Recent reports have some iPhone, iPod Touch and even Mac beta users complaining on Apple Support forums because their devices simply decided to do a couple of FaceTime calls on their own in the middle of the night on November 27th and 28th. The calls go from being of mutual consent between devices, to having them work on devices that were even turned off.

More detailes have the calls happening at similar times, between 6:30PM Pacific, 9:30PM Eastern and 3:30AM in central Europe for all people that complained about it. So is this a software bug, an Apple server bug, or simply phones wanting to act up is something that hasn’t yet been confirmed. There are possibilities that this could have to do with the release of iOS 4.2.1, but that’s again just something that might be or not be happening.

So yeah, while this gets resolved and probably patched, our best advice is that you don’t sleep with your phone facing anything you don’t want the world to see.
