HTC Legend Gets Official CyanogenMod ROM Support

It’s not quite fully cooked yet, but the HTC Legend is now on the “officially supported” list for CyanogenMod ROM. The “not fully cooked” remark shouldn’t stop you from giving it a try, it’s currently in the Release Candidate 1 stage, which means it’s feature complete and all core functionality bugs have been resolved.

If you’d like to run CyanogenMod ROM on your Legend you’ll need to first root your phone. After that it’s a simple process of downloading the .zip from the CyanogenMod ROM forums, copying it to your sdcard, then flashing it using ROM Manager which you can download free from the Market, but I’d recommend you fork out US$4.99 to get the premium version of the app.

What will CyanogenMod on your legend get you? First off, you won’t have HTC’s Sense UI; CyanogenMod ROM is built off the sourcecode for Android found in the AOSP — the Android Open Source Project.
