We’ve heard about the Droid Pro being announced at the beginning of October and then there were bits referring to a November 18 device launch with a November 9-17 pre-sale period.

Today, Verizon and Motorola announced the Droid Pro, the first Android-based smartphone optimized for business use, with a confirmation of both the dates we anticipated above and the pricing we heard, as the Droid Pro will be available for $179.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.

The Droid Pro is a world-phone, powered by Android 2.2 Froyo and will bring features intended for both work and home, with integrated features like Quickoffice Mobile Suite and 3G Mobile HotSpot capabilities plus the ability to switch between profiles. Those opting for the Droid Pro – that sports a 1GHz CPU with 4GB of memory and a HVGA resolution on a 3.1″ display – will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan (beginning at $39.99 monthly access) and a 3G Smartphone Plan.
