Sharp has introduced a pair of glasses-free 3D Android 2.2 handsets to be sold in Japan, possibly the first of their kind. Softbank will offer the Galapagos 003SH slate (pictured below) and Galapagos 0003SH QWERTY slider (pictured above) starting in December and February 2011, respectively, preloaded with 3D games like Resident Evil Degeneration from Capcom and Mobile Powerful Pro Baseball 3D from Konami, as well as several 3D movies including mostly domestic releases along with Shrek Forever.

Both of these phones feature 3.8-inch, WVGA displays, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and SDHC-capable microSD slots. The 003SH features a 9.6-megapixel camera, while the 005SH has eight megapixels, and both models shoot 750p video. Mobile payment and global roaming are also supported, on GSM 900MHz / 1,800MHz / 1,900MHz bands as well as WCDMA 3G networks. They’ll ship in a rainbow of colors and patterns, plus a limited special edition package featuring the Bose MIE2 wired headset / headphones.

Sharp is the company which manufactures the autostereoscopic screen used on the Nintendo 3DS, a 3.5-inch version with a total resolution of 800 x 240 (400 x 240 pixels for each eye). With 3D in general making such a big push into the living room and now our pockets, we’re wondering if our readers really find value in the enhanced images. Please let us know your feelings on 3D in general, and mobile 3D specifically, in the comments.
