New HTC 7 Trophy Screen Defect Reported; Recall Planned?

Some HTC 7 Trophy owners are complaining of yet another screen problem, this one having to do with apparent streaks on the screen which actually seem to be bubbles between different layers of the Windows Phone 7 display. So far nine users over at XDA have reported a similar alleged defect on their Super LCD screens, wherein various areas seem to have a different type of coating than the rest, but many attempts at removing the abnormalities have supposedly proven ineffective. A video below succinctly demonstrates the problem at hand. One commenter suggests that the top-most layer of glass didn’t properly bond with the part underneath, possibly due to defective adhesive.

The original poster, enak, writes that when he returned to the purchase location, he and the manager checked a new batch of phones that had come in, and the streaks were visible on those as well. The manager then reportedly told him that HTC was aware of the problem and would be “issuing a recall.” Combined with the earlier report we’d heard of Trophy screens exhibiting poor viewing angles, this supposed issue would not bode well for HTC if true, as the associated publicity would certainly be a hit the general reputation of quality that the manufacturer has developed over the years.
