iOS 4.2 Now Gold For Developers

Surely these news will leave the iPad crowd with a bigger smile than we’ll have in the iPhone section of software updates, but it turns out that iOS 4.2 has now gone Gold Master for developers. What does this mean? Well, that it’s just around the corner for us mortals after leaving the beta. People owning iPads will have all sorts of updates we all got first on iOS 4 for the iPhone, like multi-tasking for example. But there are still good news for us iPhone and iPod touch owners.

Among the updates we’ll get are:

– AirPlay for streaming video, audio and other content between iOS devices and some peripherals

– AirPrint which is finally here

– And the best of all, the Dev-Teams iOS 4.2 carrier unlock we’ve all been waiting for, or so they say

Let’s hope the step between GM and the official release doesn’t take much longer.
