Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone Poses For More Photos?
The so-called PlayStation Phone from Sony Ericsson, supposedly codenamed Zeus, has appeared for several more tightly cropped photo sessions. Once again Engadget has managed to score some shots of the alleged device looking a bit more polished than last time, with its system info screens apparently showing an Android 2.2 Froyo build and 512MB of internal storage. The phone is said to be on the thicker side — thanks to that slide-out gamepad — and will also likely ship with Android 3.0 Gingerbread, if it does indeed ship at all.
Despite the numerous photos which have appeared from what are claimed to be inside sources, very little is known about the specs of “Zeus,” including such basic info as screen size and CPU (a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 is rumored). What’s even more curious from our perspective are the rationale and timing behind this supposed release: with Android, iOS, and now Windows Phone 7 such capable gaming platforms already, does the world really need another dedicated video game phone a la the Nokia N-Gage? Sure hardware controls are nice, but it feels like Sony Ericsson may have already missed its best window of opportunity to garner maximum interest in such a product.
Gamers, are you tempted by a phone like this?
