You could or you could not believe the bold sales numbers and figures Company officials are used to unveil when analyzing revenues or certain quarterly shares but Retrevo organized their own “2010 Gadget Census” to reveal which smartphones dominate which state.

Using the concept governing the Presidential elections of the electoral college with certain states weighing in more than others, Retrevo found out that the iPhone was the top U.S. smartphone, winning in 14 states and Washington, D.C., with 215 “gadgetoral” votes. BlackBerry came in second even though it won in 15 states, Arizona included, but collecting only 198 “gadgetoral” votes with Android coming in third with its 122 “gadgetoral” votes winning the most states, 21.

If we look at it from the numbers counted point of view, Android is clearly the winner here being 21-state favorite with BlackBerry second and iPhone third only one state apart from BlackBerry’s 15. Statistics show that Maryland is the place where there are 48 percent more households with at least a smartphone than anywhere else in the country.
