Motorola Droid Pro To Cost $300 on Verizon?
Verizon’s upcoming Motorola Droid Pro may cost as much as $300 on contract, according to alleged internal screenshots posted by Droid Life. Unsubsidized, the phone will supposedly cost $500 when it arrives next month. The QWERTY-equipped Pro features the same candybar style popularized by Palm’s Treo and Motorola’s own Q family of handsets, and while it packs in a zippy 1GHz processor, the 3.1-inch screen is only HVGA resolution (which may in fact be sufficient for a device this size, but we’ve been trained by Apple to be pixel density snobs).
The price point is somewhat surprising considering that all three previous family members — the Droid, Droid X, and Droid 2 — were all introduced at $200 price points, and nothing about the Pro makes it any more premium than those other devices. Therefore we’re thinking that it’s either a place holder, or more likely, a way to tack on impressive-sounding rebates while still hitting a target MSRP. Either way, you’ll be able to find this one on Amazon for a penny soon enough we imagine.
