Motorola Flipout Software Tour

In this video we review the software included on the Android 2.1 powered Motorola Flipout. The Flipout has the standard Android apps like Camera, Email, Calendar, Alarm, Calculator, Browser, and in addition, there’s some extra stuff from Motorola and At&t.

The Flipout is running MotoBlur on top of the Android interface which helps integrate social networks, news, weather, and other need-to-know information. There are many MotoBlur widgets which allow for toggling of various radios and functions. One of the best features of the Flipout is the included Phone Portal which syncs and shares files over a WiFi connection to help eliminate the need to physically plug in the device to a computer.

Then, you have a suite of normal At&t applications which are usually bundled on most smart phones.

– At&t FamilyMap: This service allows you to track members of your family on a map with GPS (phone must support it). The service costs $9.99 for two devices up to $14.99 a month for five devices. A free 30 day trial is available.

– At&t Navigator: This is a turn-by-turn navigation solution that costs $9.99 per month and uses data to download maps.

– At&t Radio: This app allows you to stream radio form many different genera for $4.99 a month. There is an FM radio built into the Flipout but requires headphones to be plugged into the 3.5mm jack.

-At&t MobiTV: This service gives you TV on the go for the price of $9.99 a month, MobiTV only works over a cellular data connection.

Other software that is included is Quickoffice, Google Maps, Google Navigation, Google Talk, Mobile Banking, Voice Dialer, Where, Youtube, and Ypmobile. In case you missed it check out the unboxing and hardware tour. The full review will be up shortly.
