Android Gingerbread Screen-Off Animation

What happens when you turn your Android’s screen off? Right now the screen goes off, right?

Some of us still remember when TV’s were big cathode ray tubes that took time to “warm up” and were just a “little” thicker than the LCD and plasma panels that we have today. When you turned off the screen there was sort of a “pinch” effect that ended in either a line across the screen, or a bright dot in the middle. That’s just the way the technology worked.

If the folks over at Phadroid are correct, Gingerbread (the next version of Android) comes with a little eye candy when turning off the screen — a throwback to the CRT days of old. Take a look!
