Telstra: HTC 7 Mozart Is $850 Off-Contract, LG Optimus 7Q $945

Australian carrier Telstra has revealed via Twitter that it will be selling the HTC 7 Mozart and LG Optimus 7Q (LG Quantum here in the US) Windows Phone 7 handsets for AU$864 and AU$960, respectively, which translates to about $850 and $945 at current exchange rates.

Now we’re used to seeing HTC handsets go for a premium price unsubsidized — the HD7 will supposedly cost upwards of $840 unlocked — but almost $1,000 for an LG phone seems a bit much, especially since we’ve heard that even HTC’s Surround will only cost $550 off-contract from AT&T.

Both of these models feature 1GHz processors, 512MB of RAM, and WVGA resolutions, but while the 7Q packs in twice as much storage as the Mozart (16GB to 8GB), this latter model can boast of both a bigger screen (3.7 inches to 3.5 inches) as well as a higher resolution camera (eight megapixels plus Xenon flash to five megapixels).

Neither the Optimus 7Q nor the 7 Mozart are expected to be sold in the US.
