Verizon’s Tiered Data Plans Coming Later This Month?
We knew this was coming and according to an Engadget tipster, Verizon Wireless is all set to introduce tiered data plans for smartphone users starting on the 28th of October.
Smartphone users will have two choices, a $15 a month plan with 150MB of data included (additional data would then be charged at $0.10 per MB) or a more expensive plan at $29.99 a month that will offer unlimited data.
AT&T currently offers a $15 plan with 200MB of data included; you then pay $15 for an extra 200MB should you go over your allowance. AT&T do not offer an unlimited plan but for $25 a month you will get 2GB of data. If you exceed that, it costs $10 for every GB thereafter.
The plans are supposedly just for Verizon’s 3G network and there will be a separate announcement later in the year when Verizon is set to launch its 4G LTE network.
Current subscribers will be able to stay grandfathered in on their existing data plans or migrate to the new plans at any time.
