Huawei Ideos Froyo Handset Hits 11/3 as the T-Mobile Comet?
T-Mobile will release the Huawei Ideos Android 2.2-powered smartphone as the T-Mobile Comet on November 3rd, according to documentation published by TmoNews. The budget Ideos QVGA handset runs a 528MHz processor and sports only 256MB of RAM, but otherwise offers up most of the features one expects on a modern handset, including GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi b, g, and n, a 3.1-megapixel camera, and microSD slot.
The Comet would be Huawei’s second stab at an Android handset on Magenta, following last year’s T-Mobile Pulse (whose specs aren’t all that different from the Ideos’). Chinese manufacturer Huawei has also dabbled in Windows Mobile hardware as well other Android handsets that somewhat resemble Apple’s iPhone. According to the leaked slide, T-Mobile is targeting first time smartphone buyers with the Comet, highlighting its web browsing capabilities and access to the Android Market.
