Microsoft And Adobe CEO’s Meet Secretly To Fight Apple?

This is an interesting note. Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer just had a “secret” meeting with Adobe’s CEO Shantanu Narayen to talk about a lot of things over an hour long conversation. I’m not really sure how secret the meeting really was since we’re talking about it, but according to The NewYork Times, a large portion of that hour was spent discussing about Apple’s current success in the mobile market, and how they should team up to give them a run for their money.

Quoting the report: “The meeting, which lasted more than an hour, covered a number of topics, but one of the main thrusts of the discussion was Apple and its control of the mobile phone market and how the two companies could team up in the battle against Apple. A possible acquisition of Adobe by Microsoft were among the options.

The New York Times learned about the meetings through employees and consultants to the companies who were involved in the discussions that took place or familiar with their organization, all of whom asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly by Microsoft or Adobe. Those involved in the meeting, from its logistical set up to the discussion that took place, were instructed to stay quiet about the two companies holding council.”

I’m not sure if having Adobe acquired by Microsoft is such a smart idea, but we do see the need for these two companies to team up and deal with tools to help competition succeed against Apple. How you ask? Well, how about if they start by bringing true Flash support on Windows Phone 7. Some rumors around the block have Microsoft considering the expansion of the Windows Phone 7 OS to tablet devices, but then again, would they be fit to be considered a superior option without Flash?

We do know Adobe isn’t really loving Apple that much lately, so keep our thoughts on hold and be ready to expect anything in the next coming months.
