What we know so far, based on rumors and leaks, is that there will be plenty of Windows Phone 7 devices once Microsoft is launching the platform next week, devices manufactured by big names such as HTC, LG and Samsung.

We know that Dell is having something up their sleeve to join the team of manufacturers for devices running Microsoft’s platform and also Sony Ericsson seems to have a device in works but it looks like another one just introduced itself. Garmin-Asus seems to be preparing a Windows Phone 7 device to be released early next year and, on the same note, is considering expanding their Android line-up on the Taiwanese market with additional one or two devices by the end of this year, according to Digitimes.

The company seems to be undergoing a rough period as Chief Financial Officer Kevin Rauckman admitted that the company might consider retiring from the smartphone market anytime next year if things don’t improve. Releasing a Windows Phone 7 device under these circumstances might as well be the only card the company could play which could either save them or help them out of the smartphone market.
