Motorola Flipout Launching on AT&T, After All
Despite the fact that it had once been given up for dead, the Motorola Flipout has gotten an official launch on AT&T. The square-shaped, entry-level device — powered by Android 2.1 Eclair — will retail for $79.99 on contract starting October 17th, no rebate required.
With a 2.8-inch QVGA screen and smallish 1170mAh battery, the Flipout may not be the most well-spec’d phone on the block — yet you’re still getting a 720MHz TI OMAP processor, 512MB ROM / 512MB RAM, and the same three-megapixel camera found on the pricier Bravo. Plus, all the usual radios are here, including Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi (in b and g flavors), and aGPS.
Making Flipout just a bit customizable are the pair of battery covers included in the box, which let the user change colors from Dark Sapphire to Saffron; additional covers will reportedly be available directly through AT&T.
