Windows Phone 7 Devices Hitting Europe on October 21st?
Windows Phone 7 devices will begin selling simultaneously in five European countries on October 21st, according to a souce being cited by Neowin. The five countries mentioned in the report are France, Germany, the UK, Spain, and Italy. This supposed release would follow the October 11th launch event in Manhattan, although Neowin noted that it’s not clear when exactly handsets will actually be up for sale in the U.S.
With WP7 leaks and news clearly ramping up in frequency, we have no doubt that a hardware launch is imminent, and it seems to behoove Microsoft as well as all of its partners to push these devices out as quickly as possible. If reports are to be believed, Redmond’s market share in mobile is at an all time low, meaning that every day without fresh handsets on the shelves is another day that other platforms have to capture customers. There is definitely a sizable group of folks waiting with baited breath for the chance to purchase the very first Windows Phone 7 units, but there are even more people who just want to buy a phone today and aren’t about to wait months on a promised revolution.
