Besides being an Open Source, developer-friendly OS, the thing I like best about Android is the ease in which you can change the overall look and feel of the device, just by installing an app — specifically the “Launcher App.”

Switching the Launcher App lets you change things like the number of home screens you can run, how those home screens behave, what widgets you can place on them, what the notification bar and pull-down look like and contain, and even how the app drawer works. Some Launchers require a big, bulky memory footprint that run slowly but give you a lot of features, others are light-weight and

super-fast.

If you’ve been following my articles, you’ve seen me cover more than a few of these. I favor Launcher Pro, my wife likes ADW.Launcher, and Brandon can’t get enough of HTC’s Sense UI.

But what about you? What is your favorite launcher app?
