HTC Desire HD Locations Navigation (Video)
In this video we demonstrate the new HTC Desire HD navigation software that comes standard on the HTC Desire HD. The navigation program is easy to use and very fast to route a course. You may wonder why you would need to have a navigation program on an Android 2.2 device. Unlike Google Navigator this program saves all of the maps directly to the device or storage card. If you find yourself traveling outside of your coverage area you will still have the ability to navigate to points-of-interest and addresses. There are two versions that come on the Desire HD; Locations is the free version and for $4.99 a month you can upgrade to the premium HTC Locations Navigator that will speak turn-by-turn directions throughout the entire United States.
This ROM is still in the beta 2 testing stage and some features do not work entirely perfect. There are options to download nearly every map of the Earth and for a small monthly fee traffic camera locations and traffic congestion maps may be purchased.
We hope to see a more stable version when the Desire HD goes on sale. This version that is ported over the HD2 does not render in landscape mode. Some of the support for the program are not implemented due to the HTCSense.com site still under construction.
