T-Mobile G2’s Updated GPU and CPU Keeps Up with Hummingbird, TI Processors

If you’re concerned that the newly announced T-Mobile G2 Android smartphone made by HTC may not hold up well given its 800 MHz Qualcomm processor speed, then you should fret not as an early benchmark shows that the device can keep up with the best of the Android crop.

The T-Mobile G2 has a couple advantages going for it. First, it is a stock Android smartphone, meaning there isn’t any gimmicky UI overlay to slow down the device. Second, there’s a newer Qualcomm processor inside the device. The 45 nm SoC integrates an Adreno 205 graphics processor, which is said to deliver 4-5 times the performance of previous generation Adreno 200 GPU.

In fact, the new Qualcomm chip is on par with the Hummingbird chip on the Galaxy S and also the Texas Instruments OMAP ARM9 based CPU with integrated PowerVR GPU on the Droid X and Droid 2.
