LG to Officially Unveil Optimus One, Optimus Chic on 9/14
LG is planning an interactive press conference on September 14th to officially launch a pair of phones that it has already teased to the public: the Android-powered Optimus One and Optimus Chic. Both of these mid-range models were hinted at back in July, and then put on display earlier in the month at Germany’s IFA trade show, but so far no specs whatsoever have been revealed. Apparently the press event will be streamed live worldwide to journalists and bloggers, who will be able to ask questions via, and only via, Twitter. Look for LG’s follower count to jump as a result of this restriction.
As the company noted back in July, the One and Chic will only be the first two of a planned ten or so devices launched this year as part of the Optimus brand. At least one of those models, the Optimus 7, will reportedly be a rebranded version of the company’s “Panther” Windows Mobile 7 developer handset, of which we have posted quite a few in-depth videos.
In a confusing bit of branding, “Optimus” is also the term which nVIDIA uses for its graphics switching technology, as well as the name of an expensive, OLED-infused keyboard from Russian Art Lebedev Studios.
