Purported Palm webOS 2.0 Screenshots Flood Web

A whole bunch of supposed webOS 2.0 beta screenshots just got dumped on the web, and apparently they reveal some new features not announced with the beta SDK. The biggest news seems to be confirmation that QuickOffice is coming to the platform, great news considering that DataViz just killed its webOS version of Documents to Go. Even more interesting is that the mobile Office suite seems to support syncing to numerous different online document depositories, including Google Docs, Dropbox, and surprisingly, Apple’s Mobileme.

According to PreCentral, which along with Engadget and Wibozi received the leaked shots, other previously unknown features include VPN support, added messaging options such as MySpace and Skype, one page to handle all of a user’s disparate Synergy accounts, and a revamped dialer with added buttons like Voicemail and Call Log. At this point it is not clear which current Palm devices, if any, will see an official upgrade to 2.0 — or whether there is any new hardware forthcoming to take advantage of the polished OS.
