Sharp’s Mobile Phone Prototype Goes Triple Threat with 3D
Sharp is showing off a prototype of an upcoming mobile phone that will use three 3D technologies, bringing a triple threat of 3D to your hands and into your living room. The device employs a 3D screen that’s capable of showing off 3D sans goofy goggles, much like what Nintendo is promising for its 3DS portable handheld gaming console. The 3.7-inch display is capable of 2D viewing at a resolution of 800 X 480, but adding in the third dimension will drop the resolution to half of the WVGA resolution on 2D. Also on board is a 3D camera with dual lenses to capture stills and videos in 3D as well as 3D video output via the included HDMI port to a television. Now, if you have a 3D television, I guess your 3D experience can be maxed out on the larger screen. If Sharp would slap Android in, perhaps we’ll get some cooler, more competitive game titles headed to Android Market.
