Windows Phone 7 Lock Screen Mimicked on Windows Mobile

We’re familiar by now with the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Lock Screen and the way it presents the user useful information such as time, date, missed called, text messages, email and calendar appointments with its nice bouncing animation and its ability to allow peaking under it, without actually unlocking the device.

In order to mimic the Windows Phone 7 Lock Screen on previous versions of Windows Mobile (6.x), we now have an application that is based on the ideas and principles of the “original”, meaning that you will be presented with a screen where you are informed about time, date, missed calls, text messages and email while maintaining the ability to peek under it to quickly see if there’s anything of importance. One can also change the background of the application by placing a WVGA jpg file in the root of the Device called lockscreen_image.jpg. One thing to note is that it will not replace the original Windows Mobile Lock Screen since it’s only a preview app, part of an upcoming Windows Phone 7 theme for the HTC HD2.

You will need to have .NET Compact Framework 3.5 installed to use this app. As far as installation goes, download the CAB and install it to your Device. Trigger the application by its shortcut in the Start Menu or assign it to a button press.
