Rumored HTC Bee Images Appear Online

An image has surfaced on a Russian blog purporting to be the HTC Bee, a rumored mid-range Android device that was previously suggested to be Verizon-bound — a direct competitor to AT&T’s Aria, if you will. According to the site YouHTC, the Bee will also highly resemble another upcoming HTC handset, the Tianyi, which is another mid-range QVGA device that is destined for the Chinese marketplace.

Of course, we’ve heard the code name “Bee” bandied about previously, complete with a set of purported specifications. These rumored specs include a 3.2-inch QVGA screen, pokey 528MHz processor, a not-too-shabby pairing of 512MB ROM / 384MB RAM, and a totally solid five megapixel camera with flash. Even better — and unlike some other midrange Android handsets we’ve seen recently — the Bee is said to ship with Froyo right out of the box, and of course rock HTC’s Sense 1.6 interface.

You can file this all directly in the rumor category for now, but in theory, it certainly makes sense for US carriers — especially Verizon — to begin populating their lineups with more lower-end and mid-range Android devices, just as they have been doing with Windows Mobile and Symbian for quite some time now. If the Bee does in fact exist, and finds its way stateside, it would seem that price point is going to be a critical factor in its success (or lack thereof).
