HTC Merge aka ADR6325 GCF Approved

We saw that the HTC Merge aka ADR6325 is joining the list of devices coming to Verizon after the Droid Eris ant the Droid Incredible but it looks like there’s more to the story with The Global Certification Forum’s approval.

While Verizon is a CDMA network, the GCF has approved the HTC Merge with both quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and uniband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 2100 MHz. This might mean either that the HTC Merge will only be a European and/or Asian model or a Verizon world phone, given the fact that The Global Certification Forum does not even test CDMA standards.

One thing’s for sure, we can add a new name to the list of the fourteen rumored HTC device codenames and our best bet is that we’ll add some more in the near future.

About the HTC Merge, rumor has it that it will sport a CPU faster than 1GHz and a 10MP camera plus a WiFi N capable radio – which is not new as the HTC HD2 and the Nexus One have been there. The HTC Merge will run Android 2.2 Froyo which should fly with those specs. What do you think about the new HTC codename?
