Sprint Cuts Off Epic 4G Pre-Orders

Sprint’s QWERTY-infused variant of the ubiquitous Samsung Galaxy S, the Epic 4G, is apparently so popular that the wireless carrier has already run through its allotment of pre-order units, accourding to a message on the phone’s landing site. Now, instead of being offered a guaranteed place in line, potential customers are simply given the opportunity to receive a “ready-to-buy reminder” email during the run-up to the $250 Epic’s August 31st release.

Of course folks interested in the carrier’s second 1GHz-powered 4G handset can still purchase one through traditional retail means on or after the day of release, but with the shortages experienced by the EVO 4G, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that some consumers will walk away from their quest empty-handed. Now of course every other carrier is also offering a Galaxy S of its very own, but if you’re looking for a physical keyboard and cutting edge data speeds, only the Epic would seem to satisfy.
