Meizu M9 Has iPhone Retina Display, iPad Industrial Design

Meizu, known for copying Apple’s moves in the smartphone space, has fashioned its M9 Android smartphone to be the perfect balance between the Retina Display on the iPhone 4 and the industrial design of the iPad, though it’s hard to discern if the M9 actually uses the unibody construction similar to the larger bodied iPad. The high resolution knock-off running Android 2.2 with Meizu’s heavy UI skins is expected to hit China in October, though it supports TD-SCDMA so Stateside viewers should look away as this won’t hit US shores.

For its part, Meizu has married some great design elements from Apple into the M9. The curved, slim profile of the M9 largely resembles the iPad’s back, and the bottom plastic antenna slot, which resembles the top plastic part on the iPad 3G, should help with reception and signal strength; surely Meizu does not want to copy Apple’s Antennagate situation, even with a knock-off. We’re really wondering if the iPhone 4 should have gone this route with the case design.
