Android Powers the Philips GoGear Music Player
Looks like Philips will be using the Android operating system on its PMP MP3 music player, leveraging the power of Android, which has traditionally been employed in the smartphone space, to the non-phone music device. While the Philips GoGear Connect MP3 player won’t be hitting State-side anytime, it will give Apple a nice rival in Google as this device may very well be an Android phone sans phone capabilities, just like Apple’s iPod Touch is like an iPhone without the phone module.
The GoGear offers some standout feature for this £199.99 16 GB music player. It features GPS for navigation, an FM tuner, and 3.2-inch display running on Android 2.1.
Here are some of the features of the device:
-3.2-inch media player as boasting Android 2.1
-16GB of internal storage space
-Battery is good for 5 hours of video playback (and 25 hours of audio)
-FM radio tuner
-microSD expansion slot
-Android 2.1 Marketplace
