Video: The BlackBerry Torch at the NYC Launch Event

RIM announced the new BlackBerry Torch today and we were at the press event in New York City for the announcement as well as a little hands-on time with the new device and new BlackBerry 6 operating system. If you want to see the full announcement with all the highlights about both the BlackBerry Torch and the new BlackBerry 6 operating system, we’ve got our video below. If you’re expecting crazy reality-distortion-field-style applauding after every little new feature (as some of the speakers seem to expect), you might be disappointed.

A few of the crowd favorite new things are the cool social network feed app that integrates updates from a number of different social networking sites, the new media capabilities which include WiFi syncing similar to the Zune, and full music library list syncing. Universal search with 3rd party application integration support sounds pretty cool too! Take a look at our hands-on demo with a BlackBerry representative below.

Here’s a little glimpse of how the screens compare between the BlackBerry Torch, Samsung Vibrant, and HTC HD2.

The Qwerty slider form factor looks great on the BlackBerry Torch.
