How to Install Non-Market Apps on Your AT&T Android

If you have the right tools, you can get the job done! Some carriers (AT&T) won’t allow you to load non-Market apps onto your Android device. This affects the Motorola Backflip and Samsung Captivate, to name a couple. But with a new tool from Android Central, you can load applications not downloaded through the Market onto your Android device with relative ease. Below is a video walkthrough, but here’s a cheat sheet on how to use the tool:

1. Extract the files to a folder.

2. Make sure you have .NET 4 installed.

3. Plug in your device, making sure you’re in USB debugging mode (go into Application Settings to double check).

4. Run the AndroidCentral-SWM.EXE and browse for the .apk file that you want to install. Then hit the Go button. Bam!
