Motorola Droid 2 to Launch with Android 2.2 Froyo

It looks like the oft-rumored Motorola Droid 2, which has been caught in numerous leaked photos, will be launching straight with Android 2.2 Froyo, the Google mobile OS edition that supports Adobe Flash 10.1 for a desktop-class browsing experience. Adopters of the Motorola Droid X will still need to wait until later this summer for Motorola and Verizon to push out Android 2.2 to their devices; an exact date hasn’t been announced yet.

In addition to being let out of the gate with Android 2.2 on board, it seems that the widgets-based UI system on the Droid X will also be present on the Droid 2. That UI, although similar to MOTO BLUR, is not actually MOTO BLUR as Verizon Wireless handles the back end work and the data isn’t going through Motorola’s servers. MOTO BLUR, on the other hand, is more integrated with the OS and provides for a more rounded webOS-like Synergy feel where downloaded applications could get re-installed automatically should you switch to another MOTO BLUR-capable device or wipe your device.
