We had previously heard that inventories for the Motorola Droid X will be limited on launch day, but Verizon Wireless spokesperson told CNN that the carrier should have enough inventory of the popular Motorola smartphone available for launch day on July 15th.

The carrier is making the phone more widely available for its customers by allowing customers who are eligible for an upgrade anytime in 2010 access to the Droid X at the device’s subsidized price by extending their contract; in the past, customers had to wait til the exact upgrade date to get a new device, but the Droid X represents an aggressive push by Verizon for its hotly anticipated flagship Android smartphone.

Verizon spokeswoman told CNN:

While we are currently experiencing delays on orders of one of our more popular phones. We view that as an anomaly driven by a combination of supply and popularity. At present, we feel that we have done everything possible to ensure we have inventory to meet customer needs around the Droid X – the proof will be in the execution on July 15.
