Samsung Galaxy S2 With HD Touchscreen–Too Good To Be True?
While the Samsung Galaxy S has yet to launch in the USA, there are already rumors of a larger, more updated and feature-filled bigger brother to the Galaxy S called the Galaxy S2. While many current devices on the market, like the Droid X and the iPhone 4 are capable of shooting video in 720p HD resolution, the Galaxy S2 can do that and display 720p HD videos in native resolution on the device’s screen! You’ve read that right–the Galaxy S2 has a high definition 1280 X 720 screen that measures 4.3 inches, the same as the Sprint EVO 4G. That screen will have a pixel density of 340 ppi, more than the retina disply of the iPhone which measures in at 326 ppi.
If that’s not enough to make you question the authenticity of the device, the Galaxy S2’s rumored powerful specs will make you spin. It is speculated to have a 2 GHz CPU or a dual-core 1 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB ROM, 32 GB memory with expandable storage, 8-megapixel camera capable of HD video encoding, and all the sensors and radios that warrant a high-end smartphone such as Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi b/g/n, accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS, and most likely proximity and light sensor. To top it off, the device will most likely be released with Android Gingerbread in early 2011.
There is no word right now if the 4.3-inch display will utilize Super AMOLED technology, which will give the device rich colors and a bright display while saving on battery life and providing for a wide viewing angle.
