Video: iPhone 4 Features & Hands-On

The best part, for me, about the iPhone 4 is that it brings the pixel count to over 300 pixels per inch, which means that text and images are rendered as crisply as printed paper. Texts that are small in PDFs can now be readable, especially in the iBooks PDF viewer. The high pixel density screen, modern construction with smooth lines, and sleek stainless steel finish and reinforced glass that Steve Jobs says resembles Sapphire crystal and has the strength that’s 30 times as tough as plastic all give the iPhone 4 a unique place in the stylish and functional category.

The highlight of iPhone 4 software-wise would be iMovie, a productivity video editing app that allows users to add custom themes, titles, and transitions to capture, edit, and render 720p HD videos right on the device itself!

Interested Apple fans can pre-order on June 15th or lineup to purchase in the five launch countries–including the US–on June 24th. The 16 GB model will retail for $199 and the 32 GB capacity will go for $299 on contract. Apple will offer an 8 GB iPhone 3GS for the $99 entry price point in the lineup.

The iPhone 4 brings added features including 4X the number of pixels on the same 3.5-inch display, IPS technology, gyroscope in addition to proximity, light, accelerometer, and compass sensors. The front and back of the phone are made from reinforced glass that’s said to resemble sapphire crystal and has 30X the toughness of plastic. Additionally, the stainless steel frame serves double duty as not only structural support, but is used as antennas to carry optimum signal. Powered by an A4 custom silicon, the iphone 4 is snappy, like its bigger iPad sibling.

Additionally, there will be two colors available–black and white. In the white one in the video, viewers will notice that there is a secondary mesh or perforated slot opening at the top right above the earpiece speaker–that’s where the proximity sensor is. On the black model, that isn’t visible and has a sleeker appearance.
