BlackBerry Pearl 3G Not Coming to T-Mobile
Despite a successful round with the original BlackBerry Pearl made by Research in Motion–the original BlackBerry handset that debuted the pearl trackball for RIM–T-Mobile will not be offering a followup with the Pearl 3G, which sports a similar design and adds a trackpad to replace the trackball and also comes with HSPA 3G rather than GSM/EDGE of the predecessor.
Speculation for T-Mobile’s rumored decision may be due to the carrier wanting to play up its other consumer BlackBerry offering–the BlackBerry Curve, which hasn’t had 3G included before. RIM has made 3G a premier feature on its GSM handset, reserving it for the flagship Bold series previously.
Will SureType diehards behind the BlackBerry Pearl and Pearl 3G be disappointed by T-Mobile’s decision or are you happy to see more full QWERTYs on the market with T-Mobile’s rumored push for a BlackBerry Curve 3G?
