Acer neoTouch P300 and beTouch E110: Now Shipping

Review after review, we’ve never been a fan of Acer smartphones. They typically exhibit buggy software, low build quality, and features that leave a lot to be desired. But you can’t argue with the price…most Acer devices are 30% or more less expensive than similar HTC models. At MWC, they announced the neoTouch P300 Windows Mobile phone, and the beTouch E110 Android device. They are now shipping over at Clove. Here’s a rundown of specs, pricing, and more.

The P300, shown above, is a budget device running with a side-sliding keyboard, powered by Windows Mobile 6.5.3. It has a Qualcomm 528MHz CPU, with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. The screen (likely resistive) is a bit on the small side at just 3.2″, and low WQVGA resolution (that’s 400×240). It’s targeted at Europe, and only does 3G over the 2100MHz band. At Clove, the P300 will cost you £269, which is about $400. If you want a Windows Mobile slider, go with the Touch Pro2. It’s about $100 more, and ten times better.

More on the P300:

The Acer neoTouch P300 is a stylish smartphone targeted at users who want to combine personal and professional life in one single device. It’s the ideal product for people looking for a device with a strong focus on efficiency, reliability and security.

With Windows Mobile 6.5.3 to provide an exciting touch experience and the slide down full QWERTY keyboard of the neoTouch P300, true mobility meets full communication. Big, clear, backlit keys make it easy to use in any lighting condition, and as you can comfortably write with both hands, you’ll soon be communicating faster than you ever thought possible.

The neoTouch P300 is ready to open your world to the endless possibilities of real mobile internet. With 3G+ & WIFI connectivity, you can browse your favourite information websites, update your social networks and have fun online whenever you feel like it. It comes with Internet Explorer 6 Mobile with Flash support, making it easier than ever to enjoy high quality browsing and media viewing as well as taking care of your life and your business from just about anywhere you go.

Prepare yourself for a whole new level of instant communication with Acer connected contacts. Simply add your friends Facebook, Flickr and Blogger accounts to the contact details and whenever they update anything about themselves or any other information on these pages, you’ll know almost instantly.

The E110 is a super budget-friendly device. It costs £159, or $240, over at Clove. For that amount, you will get a device with Android 1.5, a 400MHz CPU, a small 2.8 resistive touchscreen (probably HVGA resolution), and 3G bands for 900 and 2100 MHz (Europe-only). This phone is by no means for the power users among you.

Here’s some more:

The Acer beTouch E110 is perfect for the first-time smartphone user, or anyone looking for a feature-rich mobile internet device at an affordable price.

First time using a touchscreen device? Not a problem. For many people the transition to a touchscreen device without a traditional keypad for text entry can be somewhat off-putting. The Acer beTouch E110 helps to make this transition as enjoyable as possible with three different types of virtual keyboard, from compact to full QWERTY. An intelligent predictive dictionary also helps to correct mistakes when typing emails and messages.

The beTouch E110 also aims to make internet browsing as simple as possible offering 3G connectivity so that you’ll have the web at your disposal whenever necessary. Simply tap the address bar to type an address, or hit the search icon to perform a keyword search on Google.

The Acer E110 comes with a powerful pre-installed feature set to keep you entertained when you’re on the move. Acer Spinlets is a free streaming service that lets you browse and listen to songs from major music labels. Nemo player allows you to enjoy multimedia contents to the fullest.

A new application called Acer UrFooz lets you create your virtual “look-a-like”, add your profile and bookmarks, then post it to your social networks. As expected, the device also comes with Facebook pre-installed, as well as Twidroid, the most popular Twitter application for Android devices.

To make it the perfect companion, the beTouch E110 also features a 3.0 megapixel digital camera and an FM Radio. The 1500 mAh battery will allow you to keep up with long hours of web surfing, calls with friends and hours of music.
