Developer Creates Windows Phone Style Push Notification for Twitter App on Windows Mobile 6.5

It looks like a developer has created a Twitter app, which isn’t available nor is released yet, for users on Microsoft’s current Windows Mobile 6.5 platform that uses similar push notification workings to Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 7 and Apple’s iPhone platforms. To learn more about the push notification method for Windows Mobile 6.5 for the Twitter client, you can visit Appslah for additional details. Like Microsoft and Apple, the developer is claiming that push notifications is more efficient for battery life and can still give you useful information as it happens without having to leave the client running and refreshing constantly. From the picture above, you can see that the push notification appears in a message at the top and you can choose to dismiss the alert.

The demo of the app was performed, as shown in the video above, on a device that runs Windows Mobile 6.5.3. Could this be a good alternative for Twitter users to really multitask? Another useful application of push notifications would be with instant messaging as IM clients can quickly drain battery life if they’re left connected to a data radio (WiFi, 3G) for a few hours.
