UK Gets Voice Guided Google Navigation for Android
UK Android users can now join in on the navigation fun with Google officially sanctioning Google Maps with Navigation, a voice guided turn-by-turn GPS solution that first appeared on the Motorola Droid and later made its way down to Android 1.6 devices and later.
Google Maps with Navigation on Android allows users to search or input destination addresses or names with their voice. Users can hit the microphone or hold the search button on their Android 1.6 or later devices and say “Navigate to…” and Google will query the location.
The service is still in beta and is free. However, unlike the free OVI Maps on select Nokia Symbian OS devices, Google Maps with Navigation doesn’t store map data locally and will require a constant Internet connection while navigating.
