Toshiba K01 Inches Closer to USA Release

The Toshiba K01, shown back at Mobile World Congress, is an awesome device. It has a 4.1″ AMOLED capacitive mulitouch display and a slide out keyboard, plus it’s got the wicked fast Snapdragon 1GHz CPU powering the device (full specs here). While it’s likely to ship with Windows Mobile 6.5.3, there are some rumors that it could get an upgrade to Windows Phone 7 Series, but we’re betting that no hardware (ever) will get an official upgrade to Windows Phone 7 Series because of an uneasy upgrade path. That said, there’s new reason to get excited about the K01, it looks to be coming to the USA through a recent pass by the FCC. It’s still unclear which carriers would get it, although it would be AT&T or T-Mobile for sure since the device is coming through in the GSM flavor.
