SPB Mobile Shell has been one of the best third-party home screen alternative for Windows Mobile user, and now, the company has announced that the latest forthcoming version–now at 5.0–will be made available for Symbian and Android owners as well. There is now multitouch support and a 3D engine and support for 3D widgets that would give the TAT 3D UI for Android a run for its money. SPB Mobile Shell 5 also promises tighter social networking support.

With Moile Shell 5.0 being available for Symbian, combined with the re-designed Symbian UI, Symbian owners will get a lot of glitz. It looks like a version of SPB Mobile Shell was featured on the newly announced Windows Mobile 6.5 Toshiba TG02, which features a capacitive touchscreen. Also, be sure to check out our SPB Mobile Shell 5.0 on Android video for the full run-through.

There’s still no mention on consumer availability nor pricing at the moment.
