Symbian^3 Brings a Modern UI to Nokia Phones

Now that Symbian has gone open-source, we’re hoping it gets adopted more in the US. The other aging platform–behind Windows Mobile pre-Windows Phone 7 Series and BlackBerry OS–is getting some modern improvements, including customizable and multiple home screen pages with widgets, a visual task manager for multitasking–similar to Nokia’s Maemo N900 task manager and the webOS Palm Pre card UI–and a Cover Flow-like media player. Multitouch, kinetic scrolling, pinch and zoom, and swiping gestures are all part of the package.
